Occupancy Data Analysis

Average between Oban and Strathyre occupancy data:

First of all, we calculated the weekly bed-occupancy rate by dividing the number of bed-nights used over the number of bed-nights available, multiplying after by 100%. We decided to group Oban and Strathyre and to calculate their average value of bed-occupancy rate due to the fact that both of places are situated in the North of Scotland and both accommodations are composed of timber self-catering lodges/cabins.

The graph below shows the weekly bed-occupancy rate between holiday accommodations in Oban, Strathyre, and the average value between these two holiday accommodations. Note that the X-axis starts in March.

Average between average of Oban-Strathyre occupancy data, and Visit Scotland:

Secondly, we calculated the average value between Oban- Strathyre and Visit Scotland bed-occupancy rate. In this way, we have taken into account both the more and less accurate issues of both types of data. The Oban-Strathyre type of accommodation (timber self-catering lodges/ cabins) fits better with our case study but the location does not (North of Scotland). On the other hand, the location of the Visit Scotland data (Scottish Borders) is very accurate for our site, but the type of accommodation (any kind of self-catering) is less accurate than the Oban-Strathyre data. Thus, due to this average of weekly bed-occupancy rate taken, we have obtained the most accurate data for Craik having taken into account the type of accommodation (timber self-catering lodges/cabins) and the location (Scottish Borders).
